Fifteen to twenty recordings per page are usually enough to find what matters. If you see the same hesitation, the same dead click, or the same abandoned scroll depth across five independent sessions, that is a signal worth acting on.
Read the heatmap and scroll depth
Switch to the Heatmap view for the same pages. Two things matter here.
Click concentration. Where are users clicking relative to where you want them to click? If your primary CTA is getting fewer clicks than a nearby decorative element, that is a visual hierarchy problem. If users are clicking on a static image or label, that is a dead click pattern the heatmap will confirm at scale.
Scroll depth. Clarity shows where the average user stops scrolling, as a percentage-based visualization. If your primary CTA or key benefit statement appears below the point where 50% of users stop, most of your users are never seeing it. This is one of the most common and most underappreciated sources of conversion loss in SaaS products.
A useful benchmark: your single most important action on any page should appear above the 50% scroll depth for your typical user. If it does not, moving it up is worth testing before changing any copy or design.
Check the rage click and dead click report
Pull the rage click and dead click reports for your focus pages. These are the aggregated versions of what you saw in individual recordings, now expressed as counts and percentages across all sessions.
Prioritize clusters with the highest frustration rate and the most sessions affected. A rage click on an element touched by 30% of your sessions is a bigger problem than one on an element touched by 2%.
For each cluster, ask: what did the user expect to happen, and what actually happened? That gap is the fix. In the Apploye case, the expected behavior was “start an export.” The actual behavior was nothing. The gap was a missing explanation of why the button was inactive.
Turn findings into specific fixes, not a report
The most common failure mode is generating observations that sit in Notion, get referenced once in a planning meeting, and slowly become irrelevant.
The way to avoid this is to convert every finding into a specific ticket immediately. Not “improve export UX” but “add tooltip to disabled Export button explaining required filters.” The specificity is what makes findings actionable at the team level.
Then tier each finding by effort and impact. Some findings are a two-hour fix (tooltip messaging). Some are a two-week design change (rethinking an onboarding flow). Prioritize the high-impact, low-effort fixes first; they often represent the fastest path to meaningful retention improvement.
